These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of AlpsEpics, including the iOS application, Android application, web application at app.alpsepics.com, and the public website at alpsepics.com (collectively, the “Service”), operated by AlpsEpics (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use AlpsEpics. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
2. Your Account
You sign in to AlpsEpics using Google or Strava OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your authentication credentials and for all activity under your account.
- One account per person. Do not share your account or create multiple accounts.
- Provide accurate information. Do not impersonate another person or entity.
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. The Service
AlpsEpics provides cycling training tools, AI coaching, group ride coordination, and automatic ride documentation. The Service is available on:
iOS Application
Distributed via Apple TestFlight during beta and the App Store upon release. Requires iOS 16 or later. Background GPS tracking requires explicit user permission and can be disabled at any time via iOS Settings.
Android Application
Distributed via direct APK download and Google Play Store upon release. Requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later. Uses a foreground service for GPS tracking during active rides. Location permissions can be revoked at any time via Android Settings.
Web Application
Available at app.alpsepics.com. Provides full access to AI Coach analytics, training calendar, ride management, and data import. Does not collect location data.
4. AI Coach
The AI Coach provides training recommendations based on your ride data, training load, weakness detection, and stated goals. The AI Coach is an analytical tool, not a medical or professional coaching service.
- Not medical advice. AI Coach recommendations do not constitute medical, physiological, or professional coaching advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making decisions about your health or training.
- Data-dependent. Recommendations are only as good as the data provided. Incomplete, inaccurate, or missing data may lead to inappropriate suggestions.
- Your responsibility. You are solely responsible for deciding whether to follow any recommendation. Train within your abilities and listen to your body.
5. Group Rides
AlpsEpics enables users to organize and participate in group cycling rides.
- Ride organizers are responsible for route planning, safety considerations, and participant communication. AlpsEpics is a coordination tool, not a ride operator.
- Live location sharing is visible only to confirmed ride participants. Location data is used for real-time tracking and Ride Story generation.
- Ride at your own risk. AlpsEpics does not guarantee the safety of any route or ride. You are responsible for obeying traffic laws, wearing appropriate safety equipment, and riding within your abilities.
- Photos and voice notes shared during rides are visible to all ride participants and appear in the Ride Story. Do not share content that is offensive, illegal, or violates the privacy of others.
6. User Content
You retain ownership of all content you create or upload, including photos, voice notes, text messages, and ride data. By posting content to the Service, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (e.g., generating Ride Stories, displaying ride feeds).
You agree not to post content that:
- Is illegal, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or obscene
- Infringes on intellectual property rights of others
- Contains malware, spam, or unauthorized advertising
- Violates the privacy of other individuals
We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.
7. Data & Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.
- Your data is stored in the EU (Google Cloud Platform, europe-west1).
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- You can export or delete your data at any time.
- Account deletion permanently removes all your data within 30 days.
8. Intellectual Property
The AlpsEpics name, logo, design, and all software, algorithms, and content created by us are our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service.
Open-source components used in the Service retain their original licenses.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems that do not belong to you
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service by automated means
- Circumvent security measures, rate limits, or access restrictions
- Use the Service to harass, stalk, or harm other users
10. Third-Party Services
AlpsEpics integrates with third-party services including Strava, Google, Apple (TestFlight, App Store), and OpenAI. Your use of these services is governed by their respective terms:
- Strava: Subject to Strava’s API Agreement and Terms of Service. You can revoke AlpsEpics’ access from your Strava settings at any time.
- Apple: The iOS app is subject to Apple’s Terms of Service and App Store Review Guidelines. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- Google: Google OAuth and Google Maps usage is subject to Google’s Terms of Service.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
- We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy of AI Coach recommendations, training metrics, or computed data.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy or safety of routes, maps, or GPS data.
- We are not responsible for injuries, accidents, or damages arising from cycling activities coordinated through the Service.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AlpsEpics and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, or property damage, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €100, whichever is greater.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AlpsEpics and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. For material changes, we will notify you via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and the applicable laws of Poland. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Poland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise.
